A debate between Kyle Butt and Dr. Bart Ehrman was conducted on the campus of the University of North Alabama on April 4, 2014. The debate addressed the topic of Pain and Suffering in light of God's existence. Kyle Butt is a Christian apologist at Apologetics Press. He has authored or co-authored more than 25 books dealing with such topics as the existence of God, atheism, the deity of Christ, and the inspiration of the Bible. He recevied a B.A. in Bible and Communication and an M.A. in New Testament Studies from Freed-Hardeman University. He currently serves as the editor of Discovery magazine, a monthly journal for kids dealing with Scripture and science. He is the associate editor to Reason & Revelation, a monthly journal of Christian evidences for adults. Dr. Bart Ehrman has written 24 books, including the New York Times bestsellers Misquoting Jesus, Jesus Interrupted and God's Problem. He earned an M.A. and Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary. He is the James A. Gray Distinguished Professor of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and he is a self-avowed agnostic who claims that the pain and suffering in the world makes it impossible for him to believe that the Christian God exists.
